The Campanian Mineralogical Museum
The cultural facility was opened on 22nd October 1992 and forms one of the most important scientific museums in the Campania Region with regard to the number, the variety and the rarity of the minerals on display. The museum houses the collection of Pasquale Discepolo which took more than 50 years of passionate research to put together.
There are more than 3500 minerals on show belonging to 1400 species from all over the world. Many have been donated by Italian and foreign scientists who have further enhanced the collection. In 1997 a paleontological section was added, divided into 4 showcases, where fossils belonging to the most important geological ages are on display. Since 2003, visitors have also been able to admire the anthropological section, composed of two showcases.
